Silent rallies near UN offices in world cities call for release of Armenian prisoners of war

As reported in ARMENPRESS and  THE GENEVA TRIBUNE on April 15 2021

Free the Armenian Prisoners!

Azerbaijan, in yet another violation of international law, continues to keep Armenian prisoners of war and civilians in Baku prisons. Armenians and international supporters have raised their voices in protest at the UN offices.

A silent action was held in Yerevan, in front of the United Nations office. Similar events were held in Geneva, Toronto, Paris, Los Angeles, New York, Houston, Rome, Hamburg, Moscow and elsewhere.

In Geneva, the Armenian community of Switzerland, organized by the GSA and PGArm, held a silent rally where participants carried posters calling for the release of prisoners.

“They have become, in spite of themselves, the hostages of a perverse game deriving from a sinister practice of senior Azerbaijani officials who use unquestionably aggressive and dehumanizing language towards the Armenians”, says Sarkis Shahinian, secretary general of the Switzerland-Armenia friendship parliamentary group.

Several members of the community spoke out, urging the UN and other international organizations to address the issue of Armenian captives.
